Commodity Price Converter

Enter a price and its unit, and every other unit in that category updates live. This rescales a price ratio using fixed physical conversion constants — it does not fetch or embed live market data.

Pick Weight (metals) or Volume (oil/liquids), enter a price and its unit, and read the equivalent price in any other unit.

Why not just use the general unit converter?

Commodity markets use two units that don't appear in general-purpose measurement converters: the troy ounce (31.1034768 g) for precious metals like gold, silver, and platinum, and the petroleum barrel (158.987294928 L, defined as exactly 42 US gallons) for crude oil. A troy ounce is about 10% heavier than the everyday avoirdupois ounce (28.35 g) — using the wrong one silently produces a price that's off by 10%.

What this tool does not do

This is a unit-ratio converter, not a price feed — it never fetches, caches, or guesses a real gold, silver, or oil price. It also can't convert a weight-based price to a volume-based price (e.g. $/kg to $/liter) or vice versa, since that requires the specific commodity's density, which this tool does not model.
